Cafu labels Alexander-Arnold ´one of the best right-backs in the world´ as Brazil great hails Englan

Brazil great Cafu feels he and  one of the best right-backs in the world Trent-Alexander Arnold share many similarities, while he heaped praise on England s transformation under Gareth Southgate.

Alexander-Arnold remains in contention for an unprecedented quadruple with Liverpool, who have already won the EFL Cup and FA Cup and face Real Madrid in the Champions League final next Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp s side also head into the final day of the Premier League season just a point behind leaders Manchester City, requiring a win against Wolves and hoping Pep Guardiola s side falter against Aston Villa.

Alexander-Arnold has again been one of Liverpool s stars this campaign, with his 120 chances created far ahead of any other defender in Europe s top five league…

Harry Kane injury: Opta numbers suggest Spurs struggles

Tottenham s battle for honours on four fronts was dealt a body blow on Tuesday after the Premier League club confirmed Harry Kane will be out of action until early March.

The England captain went down during the closing stages of Sunday s 1-0 Premier League defeat to Manchester United at Wembley and has sustained damaged ligaments in his left ankle.

A slated return of early March means Tottenham s star striker will miss key clashes in the top flight, FA Cup, EFL Cup  possibly a final – and probably both legs of the Champions League last-16 clash with Borussia Dortmund.

Throw in Son Heung-min being on duty with South Korea at the Asian Cup and Mauricio Pochettino finds himself in quite a bind – as these Opta numbers demonstrate:

PSG boss Galtier defends handling of Mbappe as injury blow jolts French giants

Kylian Mbappe has not been mishandled by Paris Saint-Germain since the World Cup and injuries are part of the job , coach Christophe Galtier said on Friday.

Mbappe is expected to miss PSG s Champions League last-16 first leg against Bayern Munich on February 14 after suffering a hamstring injury in the win at Montpellier on Wednesday.

Facing three weeks on the sidelines, Mbappe should also sit out Ligue 1 games against Toulouse, Monaco and Lille, as well as the Coupe de France clash with Marseille.

Considering Mbappe has 25 goals in 26 appearances for PSG this season, this is a major blow at a significant stage of the campaign, with Neymar also on the injured list.

The Toulouse game comes on Saturday as PSG look to extend their five-point lead over second…

Bale still undecided on club future but categorically rules out Getafe switch

Wales forward Gareth Bale will not rush into a decision on his club future, but has categorically ruled out a move to LaLiga side Getafe.

Bale will become a free agent at the end of the month when his contract with Real Madrid, where he has spent the past nine years, officially expires.

The 32-year-old has been linked with an array of clubs across Europe and in the United States, one of those being Madrid-based Getafe.

Speaking earlier this week, Getafe president Angel Torres claimed the Spanish side had been contacted by Bale s representatives regarding a possible transfer.

However, Bale denied that was the case when speaking at a news conference that was again dominated by questions regarding his next career move.

Asked if he was close to making…

Real Madrid 0-0 Osasuna: No joy for Ancelotti as worrying home form continues

Real Madrid missed the chance to move two points clear at the top of LaLiga as they were held to a 0-0 home draw by a resolute Osasuna.

Madrid turned in a fine performance to defeat Barcelona at Camp Nou last time out, but Carlo Ancelotti s side lacked any spark on Wednesday.

It is the third successive home game that Madrid have failed to win in all competitions, and Los Blancos were fortunate Jon Moncayola did not make matters worse when he struck the post early in the second half.

With Sevilla only able to draw at Mallorca, and Atletico Madrid and Sevilla not in action until Thursday, Madrid – who went closest to scoring when Karim Benzema hit the woodwork – must consider it as an opportunity missed to open up a slight gap on their title rivals.

Zabaleta rules out January transfer

Pablo Zabaleta has ruled out any talk of a January move to Inter after chalking up 200 Premier League appearances for Manchester City.

The full-back has been linked with a move to the Serie A outfit in the January transfer window, but Zabaleta insists he has no intention to leave City in the middle of another title challenge.

Zabaleta s current contract runs out in 2017 and the Argentinian has had struggles with two different knee injuries this year, but he remains committed to City as long as he is wanted by the club.

At the end of this season I will have one more year left on my contract. Normally the end of this season will be the time to decide what we will do, Zabaleta told the Manchester Evening News.

As a player I think I still have two or three …

Orlando City v D.C. United: Lesesne determined to get out of tight spot

D.C. United head coach Troy Lesesne has praised his side for still fighting as they look to turn their poor results around against Orlando City.

D.C. sit bottom of the Eastern Conference on 20 points, four off the playoffs.

They have not won any of their last 10 MLS matches, with their last victory coming nearly two months ago against Atlanta United.

Lesesne was candid about the mistakes his team has made in recent games but was confident they would be able to dig themselves out of trouble.

Our group s not giving in, that s clear everyone can see that, Lesesne said. But we re not getting the points we need.

We ve got to credit the group for continuing through really hard circumstances to say we re still fighting every single second.

Wilshere considering options going forward after departing Danish club AGF

Jack Wilshere is considering all of my options after the midfielder and Danish Superliga club AGF decided to mutually part ways after five months.

The former Arsenal player arrived with the club in February on a short-term deal until the end of the season, making 14 appearances for the club that finished one point clear of relegation.

Wilshere, 30, had been without a club since being released by Bournemouth following the 2020-21 Premier League season, and had been training with both Arsenal and Serie B club Como in an effort to stay sharp.

In an Instagram post on Wednesday, he thanked the Danish club for taking a chance on him and providing an opportunity to play once again.

My time at [AGF] has come to an end, he wrote. Myself and the club have mutual…
